I love when kids lose teeth – especially a few at a time….it is irresistibly cute 🙂
My good friend Mimi cooked this for me when I was visiting the other night….she is a fabulous chef and Jeff & and I are both psyched with the infusion of new and different recipes that result when I visit her!
Chicken Stir Fry – (Serves 2)
Cube 2 boneless breasts of chicken
1 T soy
1 T sherry
1 T. oyster sauce
2 tsp. minced orange
Cut up chicken and add next four ingredients to bowl – let stand 20 minutes
In the meantime….
1/3 c. fresh orange juice
1/4 c. sherry
1 T oyster sauce
1 T sesame oil
1 t chili sauce
1 T corn starch
Mix up the six ingredients above in a separate bowl and let stand.
2 red peppers
1 red onion
2 garlic cloves
Chop the peppers, zucchini, and red onion into large chunks. Mince garlic.
Now for it all to come together……
2 T. vegetable oil
Heat 2 T vegetable oil in a wok pan on medium high heat. *I also added a dash of sesame oil for flavor* When it is warm add chicken cubes and cook. In order for the chicken to brown I suggest leaving them to cook for about a minute before moving the pan around. When chicken is done take out and set aside in a bowl.
Add vegetables and garlic to same pan and cook until vegetables are cooked but not mushy (3-4 minutes).
Add sauce over vegetables and put chicken back in wok.
Cook everything together for 1-2 minutes and then serve.
Thanks for all your concern and tips about Strider. He is doing better although his ears aren’t fully better yet.
When he came home on Friday night he was still quite out of it so we parked him on the couch under our big fluffy comforter 🙂
He was tired but psyched when Jeff came home (note tail wag!)
And quickly fell back asleep
On Saturday we took a good walk outside and that perked him up enough to watch the UCONN game that night. Usually we sit on the couch with him but Giles & Cathy were in town for the weekend so he went back and forth between Jeff’s lap and theirs (perhaps he doesn’t realize he’s 80 pounds!)
I’m so cute!
He still doesn’t realize the treat cupboard is now dead to him 🙁 We’ve been giving him bits of kibble during the day as treats but somehow I don’t think it’s the same! For the next few weeks he’ll only have his new non-allergenic kind of kibble as we try to get his ears totally clean…then we will slowly start re-introducing things (but probably not peanut butter)
Have a great day!
I thought I’d post these goofy photos of Strider on this afternoon when he isn’t feeling so good 🙁
This morning he was sedated to have his ears fully cleaned out. For the past few months he’s had a major problem with having yeasty gunk in his ears. We’ve tried many different kinds of ointments, pills, cleaners, and home remedies but nothing seems to work for very long so after getting a 2nd opinion we decided to get him fully cleaned out so we can start at 0. Tonight he will begin a food that’s supposed to be allergen free. Of course we don’t know exactly what is causing the problem which is PART of the problem!
If anyone has any advice or good tips we are willing to try anything to make our little man feel better….I’m leaving to pick him up in a few minutes 🙁
One thing Strider does love is peanut butter. We usually put it in Kongs but every once in awhile he hits the jackpot and gets to lick the just finished jar of peanut butter. His tongue can just about reach the bottom but there is always just a little circle in the middle that he can’t quite get….it drives him crazy. Usually he gets some on his nose that he also can’t quite reach so it’s funny to watch him try to lick it off 🙂
I know I’m saving some for later but can I have more please?
I stick my tongue out in your general direction!
Have a great weekend!
