Granby Family Photographs

Last week I met up with this awesome family at the tobacco fields in Granby. Sarah and I are in the Junior League together so it was fun to see her in Mom mode πŸ™‚ With five little ones under the age of ten she has her hands full but all of her kids are so sweet and cooperative with each other- it was fun to see their different personalities come out.
It can be challenging to coordinate so many people without totally matching but I thought she and Spencer did a great job picking out outfits – everyone looked coordinated πŸ™‚ We did a few posed shots but mostly the kids just played with the toys they had brought – balls, bats, frisbees, and jump-ropes – it worked out perfectly!
Lucy was the baby for awhile before Oliver came along – Jillian is the second oldest and very spunky.
Lucy, Maggie, Jillian, Oliver, and Abigail – the fabulous five πŸ™‚
Some of the kids were very into striking a pose and others (Lucy and Oliver basically) were for the most part pretty disinterested in me πŸ™‚
All together now πŸ™‚
The baby – a very tolerant little guy of his four older sisters loving him and dragging him around – he just picks right up and keeps going πŸ™‚
Love these three πŸ™‚
A little silliness is always in order πŸ™‚
Ms. Independent Lucy with Chief and Chief (the dogs….one is good and the other is bad!)
The tobacco barns provided an amazing backdrop
Love this one of Spencer with the kids
They went along cheerfully with my idea to be in the fields – needless to say our feet were quite dirty at the end of it!
I love how the blue shirts brought out the brilliant blue of the girl’s eyes.
Peeking through the barns….some weren’t crazy about the spiderwebs in the window!!
And playing in the netting that protects the crop from birds (I think that’s why….I should have asked Spencer!)
Clearly by this point things are getting silly πŸ™‚ The kids were thrilled by the treat of riding in the back of Dad’s truck
One more family photo now that the light has dropped below the trees making everything more even
I love Lucy πŸ™‚
What a view!
A parting shot of Oliver all strapped in πŸ™‚

I had such a great time with all of you πŸ™‚

Baby Ellie at the Lake!

I’m a bit late in posting this as this little lady is growing like a weed! Ellie and her parents came to the lake the last weekend of July when I had my one free weekend a month πŸ™‚ The weather was absolutely magnificent and we had a great time.

The green sweater she’s wearing is one I made – it was so fun to see it on a cute little one instead of being photographed against a boring white background! Fia outgrew it even before I finished it so I lent it to Jen so it could be put to good use (which I’m happy to see it has!)

Ellie makes a great sweater model and if she hasn’t outgrown it yet I hope she’s still enjoying it!

Her favorite place – snoozing on Mom πŸ™‚

Hey lady – your camera just woke me up

So smiley and cute πŸ™‚

Sage was very good with Ellie but did like licking her hands when she stuck them out πŸ™‚ Thankfully Ellie has two doggies so she was very tolerant of Sage.

Snoozing on the hammock on a Saturday afternoon – no better spot!

Drew & Jen’s dog Sammie standing watch on the lake

Drew came up on Saturday night after work and Ellie was happy to snooze on him and catch up πŸ™‚

On Sunday Jeff had an exciting come from behind (4th!) win in the sailboat race.

One last picture before she heads home in her adorable whale outfit (insert corny whale of a time joke here!)

Can’t wait for you guys to come up again soon!

Avery & Ben’s Wedding Day!

Today I’m in Williamstown, MA celebrating Avery & Ben’s wedding!

It’s Friday!

My summer treat on the way to the lake….a kid sized cone of Oreo ice cream (with sprinkles OF COURSE).

Ahhhhh……summer πŸ™‚

Settle in for a looooooong post – this wedding makes me smile just writing about it πŸ™‚ Sam and I went to high school together (and even summer camp before that) so we go way back. Their wedding was everything I love – they got married at her grandparent’s house with their handsome Pitbull Bondi in attendance, the place they chose for the reception had an amazing view of the mountains, they and their guests danced their feet off all night, and just in general everyone couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming the whole day – it was perfection.
Emily and Sam clearly care and love their family and friends so deeply and they in return turned out in full force to celebrate their wedding.
Samily πŸ˜‰ – it was so meaningful for me to be a part of this – can we do it again??!!
My wonderful sidekick for the day was my ace in the hole Eileen Broderick – an amazing friend and photographer….we had a GOOD time πŸ™‚
Onto the photos!
This was the sign that greeted our arrival – I thought it was classic πŸ™‚
Emily and her ladies got ready at her grandparent’s house in this amazing room with beautiful light and so much character. Emily’s sister and her cousin Holly provided support and help throughout the day.
While Eileen hung out with the ladies I snuck into the bedrooms to shoot the details – Emily’s beautiful Modern Trousseau dress and of course every gal needs a pair of Manolo’s on her wedding day πŸ™‚
Bling bling πŸ™‚
Emily’s Percy Clutch
Of course Bondi was hanging with the ladies – he was super psyched to get so many pats and belly rubs!
Sam’s Mom hung out with the guys (where Eileen was) but came over a bit early to join the fun with the girls.
Emily dons her amazingly elegant Modern Trousseau dress which Holly and Sarah helped her button up πŸ™‚
Love this.
Love these too πŸ™‚ (this is going to be a theme)
Sam and Emily decided to do a first look (yippee! wahoo! hooray!) and even though Bondi was supposed to be inside he couldn’t resist joining the party unexpectedly……he then proceeded to fall into the pond by accident (he hates to swim!) and had to roll in the grass to get all that pond water off πŸ™‚
Such a special moment πŸ™‚
Sam & Emily look on as the bridal party comes to join them for pictures
And gentleman Sam helps his bride over to join their friends πŸ™‚
Of course all the boys needed to pay homage to the beautiful bride, greet her, and revel in her presence πŸ™‚
This was a fun crew (including two other high school classmates!)
A portrait of Bondi – Best Dog – all he really wanted was the stick πŸ™‚
A wreath hung over the ceremony and framed it nicely
Time to go!
Samily’s parents look on with pride πŸ™‚
Can you imagine a more picturesque place?
Their ceremony lasted a luxurious half an hour -a photographer’s dream – it allows me to really cover all the angles and not rush around like a mad woman πŸ™‚
Things did get a bit emotional!
The last reading was one of my favorites – “Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog” read by Emily’s cousin and Sam’s Brother
We did a few more portraits after the ceremony now that things were official πŸ™‚
Emily wore a family veil that was so elegant – I loved her earrings!
A dog view family portrait πŸ™‚
Sam and Emily drove to the reception in a porsche…my Husband would have been very jealous πŸ™‚
We stopped on a country road for a few more pics πŸ™‚
Southern Vermont is so beautiful!
We grabbed a few details before heading over to cocktail hour – Sam had woodburned all of the table names by hand and their cake was designed to mimic birch bark (which tied into their invitation)
Emily & her Mom hand sewed all the napkins – I loved the labels!
My favorite table that paid a nod to our high school – Albany Road πŸ™‚
The head table was covered in Burlap
The tent poles were decorated with birch bark trees and lanterns were hung around the tent – it really warmed it up and personalized it
Eileen snapped this one of me and my peeps from Deerfield πŸ™‚ I think I need to start carrying around a school banner as part of my gear πŸ™‚
Emily and her Dad relax during cocktails
As guests filed into the tent and found their seats I couldn’t resist just a few more πŸ™‚
Pretty excited to get the party started….and what a party it was!
Cracked Ice was in short – AMAZING. Might have taken the lead as my favorite wedding band ever. They had everyone on the dance floor all night long. I emailed with a member of the band and his response made me laugh – I thanked him for doing such a first rate job and he wrote back:

“those people were ready to ROCK with or without us, i think. you can lead a horse to water. but you can’t make him party!”
The toasts were lovely.
And then it was time to really get down πŸ™‚
At one point the band gathered everyone in a huge circle that took up the whole floor so we could have a dance off – anticipation grew with each couple that went in the middle until finally Samily headed in and totally rocked it πŸ™‚
See – Cracked Ice doing their thing and rocking out πŸ™‚ This guy was da bomb!
A little cake cutting while the band takes a break
But definitely time for more partying after that πŸ™‚
My DA peeps in the house πŸ™‚
Sam & Emily – your wedding was totally epic and I just loved and enjoyed every minute of it!!!
