Happy to have a generator at the lake and to have made it safely home last night from Mike & Wendy's wedding 🙂
It was great to be back at Basin Harbor – one of my favorite VT wedding venues for this wedding. Having both graduated from Middlebury, they knew they wanted to come back to Vermont to start the next chapter of their lives.
A friend gave Jackie this piece of art that morning. Very fitting for anyone who has lived in Vermont and especially fitting for that day. In the morning it was sunny and beautiful – a perfectly blue sky and brilliant sun. By the time we arrived at Basin Harbor it was spitting rain and as she got ready (with her back to the window) it fluctuated between blowing rain lashing against the windows and calm partly sunny 15 minutes later. It was comical….and a little worrisome 🙂
The guys were over on the other side of the harbor getting ready – Jono learned how to tie bow ties for the wedding and his skills were put to the test!
Jono’s family’s dog Marley was a very adorable ring bearer
Back to the girls who were keeping their feet warm with colorful socks….a gift from Jackie
We did our best to stay on schedule as the radar showed a 15 minute clearing from 3-3:15
The girls are ready to go with their baskets of beautiful bouquets from Blomma Flicka!
A few details pre-ceremony
As the ceremony began the rain was holding off – hooray!
But as the girls started down the aisle the skies opened up and it began to rain fairly steadily. Thankfully Jackie’s Dad popped open his umbrella and the show went on!
And then literally as Jackie’s parents went to sit down the rain stopped and the MOST AMAZING double rainbow formed over the harbor in front of the guests….the timing was impeccable and everyone gasped…..very very cool 🙂
Jackie & Jono created such a beautiful ceremony and really were present and engaged in it the whole time
The girls were slightly chilly but were troopers!
Yay for Marley!
As the rings were passed around to be blessed by the bridal party and families their friend sang the most beautiful song
Love Jackie’s expression in the top one
After the kiss Jackie & Jono’s families joined them under the chuppah for an interpretation of the seven blessings read by her Uncle
And then they were Dr & Dr 🙂
The girls commandeered some blankets so they’d stay warm for the photos which I thought added a lovely rustic touch 🙂
Danika did an incredible job with the flowers under the tent – so lush and autumn like!
A huge Middlebury crew celebrated with them
Let’s get the party started!
I call this one: Vermont wedding dress 🙂
This little guy was hysterical….I’d be standing by the side of the dance floor as everyone was eating and all of a sudden he’d run across the dance floor and go into a full split. The third time I caught him 🙂
And then he found an enormous worm right in the middle of the dance floor – a guest provided a great reaction 🙂
LOVE Jackie’s expression 🙂
And love how Jackie’s Brother is perfectly framed by the guest in front of me (the crew from Sultans of Swing kindly let me stand up on stage with them so I could get a good shot – the dance floor was packed all night and they rocked it out!)
Jackie & Jono toasted their guests (and each other) before everyone enjoyed an awesome slideshow put together by the B&G and a close family friend
Fun in the photobooth 🙂
As the wedding ended and guests walked over to the after party at The Red Mill an awesome fireworks display lit up the sky!
Jackie changed into this cute little number for the LNDP (late night dance party)
What fun! Congratulations and love to both of you!!
Jackie & Jono’s wedding weekend kicked off with a casual family style rehearsal dinner catered by American Flatbread. Unfortunately since the weather wasn’t cooperating the cocktails were moved inside but people embraced the weather and a great time was had by all!
The view from the ceremony location – gorgeous!
The drizzle stopped for a few minutes so we went outside to grab a few portraits
Jackie and her siblings
I loved the decor they chose – the prayer flags were from Etsy and a friend did the graphic design
Chalkboards directed guests where to go
You can’t really tell from the picture but Jono’s Mom wore these fabulous glasses with flashlights on either side of the frames so she could see her speech….people gave her a hard time about it but it worked!
Jono’s sister related Jackie & Jono’s relationship to the principles of interior design (which she is studying)
The wind made the rain come through the tent top so guests got creative and wore their napkins on their heads 🙂
Family and friends had recorded video messages to Jackie & Jono giving them advice and well wishes – it was so funny to hear what everyone had to say
Cold outside but warm inside!
Next up – the wedding!
Last week I visited Pete & Gwen who were one of my 2009 wedding couples. Their son Ben is just under six months old and absolutely so stinking adorable. He has the biggest blue eyes and was quite interested in the big black box in front of his face 🙂 It was so nice to see them both again and see them in their new role as loving parents.
Ben is transfixed by the dragon that hangs above his changing table
An outfit change and a bumbo!!
My favorite one – those eyes!!!
They live north of Boston in Salem which is in full Halloween swing for the whole month of October 🙂 These hay bales were part of a maze set up for little ones
After a quick snooze walking home Ben was up again to have some dinner. Their cat Nermal 🙂
Gwen and Pete – Ben is such an amazing little guy – enjoy every second!!
I met up with Pete & Laura at a farm in Cornwall, VT where Pete rented a house for two years after college. It is at the end of a long dirt road and the landscape surrounding it is so quintessentially Vermont…..gorgeous. They are getting married next June in Middlebury (where they both went to college) and it was fun to meet them in person after corresponding over email (and following Laura’s wedding themed Pinterest boards!!) for the past few months.
The foliage hung around for us and the hills still had some color
They were good sports and hoofed it over this fence dodging mud and cow pies to get the shot 🙂
Turns out the ground was kind of wet here….sorry Pete 🙂
I told Pete he looked like the Marlboro man so he played it up 🙂
Barn? Yes please!
We headed down the lane on Pete’s favorite walk
The cows were a little wary of us but thankfully hung close enough to provide a nice background to the picture 🙂
Love this series
On the stoop of his old house
After a quick outfit change we drove into Middlebury to this cool railroad bridge.
Just remember, Pete -if you’re going to be fresh with me I will blog it 🙂
A quiet cuddle to end our time together
Can we do it again? Thanks to both of you for being so great and easy to work with – can’t wait for next June!
