Last week I spent a morning with the campers at Shelburne Farms. The summer outdoor adventures camp was in full swing and the forest and fields were the classroom for the week – so cool! Enjoy seeing what adventures they had!
What a day! I was exhausted by lunch but the campers were psyched to just keep going!
After our housewarming party (a few pics from that coming soon….I got distracted a lot….I guess that’s why people hire photographers so they can enjoy the party!!) Fia, Heidi and Ave spent a few nights with us. It was great to have a little one in the house (Jeff especially appreciated the 6 AM wake up calls!!). We’re hoping that we can offer Heidi & Ave some overnights in the future so it was good for Fia to get comfortable in our house. She highly approved of our ocean themed sheets (an old purchase from Garnet Hill) and thought the leftover supplies from the party (cups and toothpicks) were fun toys! In another few days she’ll be three!
Warm my heart – looking out on them walking through our meadow
Els & Simon had one of my favorite types of weddings – an at-home summertime celebration! They were married at Simon’s Mother’s beautiful home in Manchester with the ceremony on one side of the street and the reception on the other! Both of them were relaxed throughout the day and everyone just had a blast
Their neighbor (literally – her house was 10 feet from the reception tent!!) and friend Mariah did the catering through her business Cafe Mamie, the Bondville Bloomist was responsible for the beautiful flowers, and the Sultans of Swing kept the tent rocking throughout the night! Els purchased her Amy Kuschel dress through the fabulous Deb of Sewly Yours in Burlington who I’d highly recommend. The bridesmaid’s dresses were Lula Kate and everyone’s hair was done at American Hairlines. The cake was made by Lindsay Martin and the rentals came from Rain or Shine Tent Company.
Enjoy the photos!
Els gets a little makeup assistance from her sister (loved the bump!!)
We did all the photos before the ceremony which makes things SO much less stressful and so much more relaxed!
Simon and Els have 4(!!) dogs who all had a part in the ceremony – pretty special
The paper suite with a beautiful painting of the bend in the river where the ceremony took place
Did I mention the bridal party canoed to the ceremony? That was a happy first!
Simon gives instructions to the guys – Els & her Dad donned appropriate footwear (everyone’s shoes were staged at the other end!)
Love this one
Thankfully everyone made it safely!
Two dogs brought the vows and the other two brought the rings!!
Obviously they also canoed away!
And then hopped on the skooter to head to the reception!!
Usually it’s grooms I catch fiddling with their rings but that night it was Els
Simon is a fly fishing guide so it was only appropriate that the table names were named after flys!
The head table was beautifully decorated with a winding path of river rocks and birch canoes interspersed
Cocktail hour was not as appealing as the new Where’s Waldo book!
Hilarious and touching toasts
I’m always in favor of a barefoot first dance!
Els’ Mom & sister joined the parent dance!
The Middlebury crew assembles
This lovely labbie was staked out on the way to the bathroom for maximum attention!
Congratulations Els & Simon!
Last week I headed to New Hampshire to re-connect with former wedding couple Mike & Alice who were on vacation. Their son Ben was born three months ago. Ever since his birth Alice has been posting hilarious pictures of him on Facebook so I was eager to meet him. He is even cuter in person and big Brother Zach is a loving sibling!
We started with a few of the original boys while Ben finished his nap!
We tried everything to coax a smile out of him and finally succeeded!
If you look closely you can probably see the reflection of all of us standing over him trying to get a smile!!
Snuggling with Daddy
It was SO great to see you all again!
Amanda, we cannot thank you enough for everything! You are the best! We love your work and working with you! You were very organized, professional, easy-going and fun to work with! Most importantly, you captured every special moment that we will treasure forever! We would highly recommend you to our friends!
