Catie and Peter were married on July 30th, with a ceremony and reception at Peter’s Grandmother’s home.
These two met when Peter was looking for a place to live and found an ad on Craiglist for a three-bedroom house in Charleston. Two girls were looking for a third roommate, and one of the girls was Catie!
I love at-home weddings, especially ones that are as laid-back as this one was. When I arrived, the girls were just getting back from the salon while the boys were out on the property working on some final details as the ladies finished their makeup. Before they headed inside, the guys even went for a swim!
We wanted to get all the portraits done before the wedding, and then as guests arrived, they were greeted by cocktails. I loved seeing Peter’s reaction as he saw Catie for the first time—and with their close friend doing the ceremony, there was a chance to really have a personal moment of levity. They were truly enjoying themselves, and it was obvious for everyone to see.
After that, we held cocktails on the lawn right next to the beautiful Lake Champlain, before everyone made their way back to a field, where a picture-perfect tent was set up for a party that lasted into the night!
Peter & Catie, you both were so wonderfully easy to work with, and I loved being there on your special day—what a fun party! I’m sure I’ll see you around town!!
A final swim with the boys.
A champagne toast with the ladies.
I LOVED Peter’s reaction to seeing Catie for the first time – so sweet and so much emotion!
The Moms provided some friendly competition!!
Love this moment I caught as Catie & her bridesmaids snuck a peek at arriving guests.
I love when there is levity in a ceremony and I can capture the couple really enjoying themselves.
An impromptu full group photo since we already had everyone’s attention!
The speeches at a wedding are always one of the (many!!) highlights for me- I love hearing more about the couple from the people who mean the most to them.
More competition (I can take it)!
Peter’s brother-in-law is a good friend of mine and gave the most wonderful speech that had everyone both laughing and misting up!
There were a plethora of adorable babies and kiddos at this wedding!
The family that toasts together stays together!
