As we met up at Shelburne Farms for their engagement photos the skies looked especially ominous. As we drove onto the farm we checked out the radar and sure enough a big blob of crazy orange and red was coming our way – yikes! In these cases it’s helpful to know every inch of the farm so you can take cover in the beautiful barns while you wait out the storms. Thankfully the weather didn’t faze Jenessa & Jeff one bit and we had some fun adventures before the weather cleared and the glory post rain light happened. You both were wonderful – enjoy the photos!
Heather and John were married on September 3rd, with a ceremony and reception at John’s parents home in Middlebury, VT.
These two had known each other for several years before they started dating. They went skiing in the same group, but one day, they went up just the two of them and realized that they might just be more than friends. After that, John asked her out on an official date to a comedy club, and the rest is history!
On the day of the wedding, I met up with the girls at the Swift House. Heather had decorated the room, and it was so much fun to capture all of the adorable details—she really thought of everything! After that, I headed over to John’s parents’ place for the wedding. The property was absolutely gorgeous—the perfect backdrop to the wedding. I loved the chance to get to joke around with the guys before the ceremony as they were getting ready—they had amazing energy and humor.
I love how Heather had her initials and wedding date embroidered on a patch and then sewn into the dress—such a special touch!
Heather arrived in her uncle’s vintage car and scurried inside to await the beginning of the ceremony, after making sure that the coast was clear and John was in a different part of the house, of course!
The day was sunny and clear, and the outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch.
Heather and John’s son, Theron, served as the ring bearer, squired by his cousin, Elle, and they made an adorable match as they (very!) slowly made their way down the aisle. Elle was so patient with Theron, who is a relatively recent walker, and despite being the center of attention, he focused on Dad at the bottom of the aisle and just kept trucking.
The party kicked off with Heather and John’s introduction, and they donned some awesome glasses just for the occasion. They really had thought of all the little details, not only with things like the glasses but also with how every decoration and detail tied in. The colors meshed beautifully with the girls’ dresses and everything else!
The toasts during the reception were more like roasts and had us all in stitches. The best man, Cam, described his adventures with John over the years, and it was especially funny to watch John’s parents’ expressions as more stories of trouble came out—I guess they figured it all turned out okay in the end!
This was a great moment—John’s nephew, Jack, decided he wanted to be part of his uncle and grandmother dancing, so he wandered onto the floor with his head covered by a blanket. They both took it in stride and John gave him a loving pat!
After that, the dancing began in earnest, and people hardly left the dance floor all night—except of course to sample the delicious cakes and eat Ben & Jerry’s, which was provided in individual cups, yum!
How many groomsmen can you fit in one photo booth?
Heather & John, thank you for letting me be part of your beautiful, fun, and lovely day! You both truly thought of everything, and it showed. See you soon, I hope!

“We are so happy with our wedding photos. They’re the kind of photos that you know will last your entire lifetime. Taking the photos on the day of went seamlessly. You could tell Amanda knew what she was doing so it left us to just enjoy every moment. We especially love the moments she captured from the ceremony and the first kiss photos were to die for! Knowing that spending time with family and our guests was the most important thing to us, doing a first look was definitely the way to go. It’s so special to get that time with your future husband/wife before all the craziness after the ceremony. Amanda was super flexible and even accommodated our wedding party selfie which came out awesome. She also stayed late and waited for us so she could capture us eating creemees together. Overall, she was a pleasure to work with and appreciated her timeliness and responsiveness.”
