I first met this awesome family six years ago when I photographed their son Gard’s wedding to Martha in New Hampshire. When I was pregnant with Norah in 2013 I journeyed to Maine to photograph Mallie & Stu’s wedding so I was BEYOND thrilled to get the call that I was going to be 3 for 3 and that Amory was getting married this summer and having an Asticou wedding. Our family decamped to Maine for a few days and enjoyed all this beautiful place has to offer. It’s always nice to have a sense of who everyone is (often I get a preview of this at the rehearsal dinner) so this time I really knew who everyone was. Amory & Prescott are a great match and I loved being at the rehearsal dinner (I’ll blog that separately) and hearing the story of how they met! Their wedding day was a sparkling (and hot!) blue sky Maine day and everything went off without a hitch.
Since Amory didn’t have bridesmaids she invited her close friends to stop by the house and join her for a casual luncheon as her family was starting to get her hair and makeup done. Her summery Jenny Packham gown was just THE perfect dress for her I loved it so much.
The house is so light and bright and I of course loved having two labs following me around with wagging tails. I loved capturing Amory’s Dad washing Woody!
Baseball caps were distributed in welcome bags and it was fun to see some pop up throughout the weekend – even at the ceremony!
All the girls except the littlest! The two women from Echo Salon did such a nice job with the hair and makeup
Auntie Mallie (expecting her own little one in a few months!!) helps Alden get ready
This might be one of my favorite getting ready photos ever – it takes a village….or a family!
We met up with Prescott at a local dock for the (very casual!) first look and did some portraits on the water before joining the families on a bluff overlooking the water
The dock had a view straight down the water to the Asticou where we could see the wedding tents and people starting to gather!
Ready to go!
People were gathering when I arrived at the Asticou Inn which is just so spectacularly sited with a view straight over the water. The Wallace Tents provided a gorgeous backdrop to the day.
Both nieces made it successfully down the aisle although Alden followed so closely on Dad’s heels it was hard to get a shot of her! Rosie was a bit more leisurely in her flower girl duties!
I love the shot of Rosie and her 99 (!!) year old Great Grandmother sharing a moment as all the extended family massed for a photo.
The minister who married Amory & Prescott had married her parents too – pretty awesome! He thought so too and gave it the thumbs up!
The tent was spectacular – gorgeous and colorful summer blooms by Miller’s Gardens adorned the tables as well as runners that had been hand printed in India and hand ironed my Amory’s Mother! Amory’s sister Mallie is an artist and had created the lupine images for the placecards and program.
Time for the party to begin!
My second shooter for the day Mark McCall was such a pleasure to work with and captured some beautiful images.
Prescott gave a wonderful and touching toast about meeting Amory and their courtship and also joked about how he had agreed to always have a bedroom for Amory’s best friend Daphne so she could stay over whenever she wanted to.
And then the party really got underway with the Sultans of Swing rocking out continuously all night!!
This moment can be captured at almost every wedding…..Prescott getting used to his new ring!
Another spectacular Asticou wedding on the books! I love this time of day when the sky is still blue and light but you can see the warmth of the light from the tent – magic hour!
Congratulations to both of you I SO loved being there and only wish there were more siblings so I could see you all again!!!!
