Heidi and Ave got married at the Coach Barn at Shelburne Farms – a beautiful venue right on Lake Champlain. Heidi was doing her best not to cry as she walked towards Ave and she was fairly successful. I have a feeling I’ll have tears rolling down my face. Jeff jokes that people will think I’m dreading marrying him 🙂
Daria Bishop was Heidi’s rockstar photographer and Jeff and I are SO SO SO SO (can you tell I’m just a bit excited) thrilled about having her and her husband Andy photograph our wedding next summer. Choosing a photographer was the most difficult decision we made and also the one we took most seriously and I know Daria won’t disappoint. Most people don’t think about it this way but after the wedding the only two concrete things that remain are your spouse and your photographs – CHOOSE WISELY 🙂
I love this photo of Daria going the extra mile to get the shot and I just can’t wait to see what the results are – I know they will be stunning.
Our cousin Lila kept choking up as she read a poem to Heidi and Ave. My eyes were totally welling up as well when I took this image. My problem is that I cry when I see others crying. Yes – even at commercials 🙂
This was so amazing and a detail Jeff and I will probably borrow for our wedding next summer. Before the vows Heidi and Ave’s closest family and friends stood in a circle and passed the rings around to bless them. This ritual to me was reminiscent of one we did at Lila’s baby shower – we each strung a bead on a necklace and said aloud our hopes for both baby and Mom. What a moment.
After the wedding we found out that Heidi’s stepfather Mark built the beautiful ceremonial arbor as a wedding present for Heidi and Ave. When we asked him where it was going after the wedding he said it was being thrown out! Jeff and I love nature and the outdoors and thought this arch was spectacular.
We originally thought we didn’t want anything to block the view behind us but now think a focal point may be a good thing. Long story short we asked Mark if we could have it for our ceremony next summer and he agreed. It is now being stored in our stable which will hopefully stay dry enough so it will be preserved. We are SO thankful to be able to use something that is personal and has meaning. I’ll also be wearing our family’s veil so it will be a wedding filled with things both old and new (and most likely borrowed and blue!)
I love the expression on Heidi’s Mom’s face – this really made me well up!
Mr. & Mrs. Cook!!
Mom insisted on getting a Christmas card photo so Jeff snapped this of me and my Brother Jon
All the cousins in my generation (and the next!)
A huge congratulations and lots and lots of love to Heidi and Ave – it was such a special day and I was thrilled to be there to share it.
Keep your eye on Daria’s blog for what I’m sure will be spectacular pictures
