When I was little in the summer most every night my Brother, Mom and I would walk down to the shores of Lake Champlain with Ziploc bags to collect sea glass (yes we know that Lake Champlain isn’t a sea but that’s always what we called it). Now that people are more aware of the dangers of littering and pollution, sea glass is more rare on the shores.
A few years ago I instead began picking up interesting stones during my evening walks, an inspiration I got from my friend Cecie. For years Cecie has collected stones from Lake Champlain during her annual trip to visit us.
She also looks for stones on travels elsewhere, and the result is a beautiful collection displayed on window sills throughout her house…….
It is considered good luck to find stones with lines running completely around them.
She has a whole window sill of heart shaped rocks, and ones marked with Xs and Os!
Since my collection is still small I’m not as discriminating in what I pick up, but one day I hope to be 🙂
