Ben & Avery – August 28, 2010
Ceremony & Reception Venue – Avery’s Parent’s House
Florist – Rita Watson
Lighting – Julie Sietel
As soon as I arrived and Avery’s parents two labs greeted me with exuberantly wagging tails I knew it would be awesome 🙂 My luck with good weather and outdoor weddings continued as the day was just spectacular. The girls got ready in her parent’s house while the guys hung out at a neighbor’s which really provided a relaxed atmosphere. Avery’s Mom organized things inside the house while her Dad helped out outside fielding questions and taking care of last minute details.
Enjoy the photos!
The placecards were tucked under two shades of blue ribbon.
Avery’s Dad and the two pooches survey the scene 🙂
Avery’s J. Crew dress hangs in her parent’s bedroom – I loved how understated and simple it was. Casual flip flops and a family heirloom sixpence completed the look!
Avery’s Sister Lucia was also a huge help and provided comic relief when Avery was getting her hair done 🙂
Avery’s Dad and Brother (who married them) hang out on the patio
The finished hairstyle was just beautiful
I love this view of Lucia doing Avery’s makeup. The family photo wall leads down to Avery’s Mom getting her hair done
The theme of simple and understated carried through to Avery’s makeup
The dress goes on and is accentuated with a blue necklace
Love these two.
Although Ben & Avery didn’t see each other before the ceremony I had 1/2 hour with each group. The property was a treasure trove of portrait spots so we had no problem filling the time 🙂 This grove of trees had the most beautiful soft light and I loved the height and perspective the trees provided.
Sunglasses were a bridesmaid’s gift so we had to incorporate them 🙂
Avery’s parents also have this amazing barn which we had to take advantage of.
Love this one 🙂
On to the guys! Ben works for Vineyard Vines so it was appropriate that he got a tie custom designed for the occasion 🙂 Paired with seersucker? Yes please and thank you!!!
LOVE this one – the pipes were a gift to the groomsmen
The dashing groom
Boys don’t always want to put down their beers so I play along for a more casual shot 🙂
The tentpoles were decorated with birch trees which really dressed it up and brought the outside in. The tables were simply set with white linens and a blue accent under the centerpieces.
The centerpieces provided great pops of color
The ceremony site was set off with hydrangea bushes that framed the aisle.
Ben & Avery retreated inside while all the guests arrived. Avery stayed upstairs while the guys hung on the sun porch
By the time the ceremony began the light had just dipped below the trees provided a beautiful warm light.
I couldn’t hear what they were saying but Avery’s Dad was chatting with her as they were walking down the aisle which was very sweet – I LOVE Ben’s expression 🙂
The parents react to the ceremony
Avery’s Brother Payson married them and did an awesome job – it really personalized the ceremony
Avery’s parents share a moment during the portraits
The barn provided a great backdrop for bridal party portraits
LOVE. My goal for portraits is to elicit reactions – clearly I said something hilariously funny and clever here 😉
So Avery’s parents painted three sides of their barn for the wedding but guess which side I chose for portraits 🙂 I loved the weathered look.
The back of the ties commemorated the date
Ben & Avery did a toast with their guests
Avery & her Dad are so close and it was really special watching them interact throughout the day – he was a very very proud Dad!
This guy tore it up on the dance floor and had many many admirers 🙂
A huge St. Lawrence crew joined them for the festivities
Recognize Heidi & Ave
? They were my connection to Ben & Avery – Avery is named after Ave’s Father and they were close childhood friends. It was very fun to catch glimpses of them throughout the night!
I’ve decided that any wedding where dogs are allowed to freely wander around throughout is MY kind of wedding! This guy was vacuuming the tent and trying to find crumbs 🙂
Ben & Avery – what an amazingly fun wedding you guys had – thank you so much for having me along to document it – I hope you had a great time in Maine!
