Brendan & Darlene were married on October 11, 2014 with a ceremony and reception at the Inn at Baldwin Creek in Bristol, VT. Brendan & Darlene are HUGE Harry Potter fans (as you’ll see by the table names) and are now off on a mini moon to Orlando to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter….awesomesauce!
I arrived at Baldwin Creek ahead of the ladies so had a chance to explore the beautiful property and scope out some portrait locations. They arrived and had lunch and then got dressed.
Brendan & Darlene chose not to do a first look or photos beforehand but as Brendan arrived at the hotel they shared a quiet hello before heading back into their rooms to get ready. It was so sweet and seemed very “them”.
As guests started to arrive they hung out outside of the Inn but eventually moved into the barn for the ceremony.
The Country Florist handled all the flowers.
This was right after the ceremony when their bridesmaids & groomsmen were recessing after them – I love their expressions – “we did it!!”
Right after the ceremony we did portraits and then Brendan & Darlene joined cocktail hour. The reception felt very relaxed with great toasts and a buffet dinner followed by dancing and general merriment in the barn!
These resourceful friends decided there should be chickens in the photos so attempted to herd them. It didn’t work but it was a great moment!!
Brendan and Darlene are so quietly in love with each other it was very sweet to be around them and to see them stealing looks at each other throughout the night. They loved being around all their friends and family but more importantly reveled in each other’s presence!
See the Harry Potter table names? Love that! And the cake was as delicious as it looked.
Darlene’s brother was back from Afghanistan on leave for the wedding – everyone was melting seeing him dance with his little girl. Now that I have a daughter these moments are especially poignant for me as I know that one day this little girl will grow up into a bride!
The kids requested the chicken dance and everyone had a blast remembering this throwback!
Both the bouquet toss and the garter toss encountered a snafu. First Darlene threw the bouquet which ended up in the hands of her (very) young niece so people encouraged her to throw it again. The second time she threw it with such gusto that it sailed right over the heads of the single ladies and into the hands of her already engaged friend (extra encouragement to marry??!!). When it was Brendan’s turn he shot it right into the rafters where it got stuck! Darlene’s very tall older brother retrieved it with the help of a guest’s high heel and then he threw it again with more success this time!
Brendan & Darlene – it was really wonderful being a part of your intimate wedding – congratulations and best wishes!
