DIY Bridal Shower Inspiration

This post is a long time coming but yesterday I got word that our DIY Bridal Shower Inspiration shoot had been published on the Wedding Wire’s Blog!

CHECK OUT THE FEATURE HERE

Way back in early June I got together with the fabulous Randi Nonni of Silver Toad Floral Design and Gretel of Fischer’s Fancies to stage an inspirational shoot at Shelburne Farms. We wanted to design a look that was fresh, colorful, and very accessible to brides who might be looking to create a DIY Bridal Shower. This could also be a great option for a DIY Baby Shower!

We wrote up a short summary of the shoot:

Silver Toad Floral Design and Orchard Cove Photography teamed up to design and style this shoot to provide colorful inspiration for a summer bridal shower. The venue was the historic and beautiful Inn at Shelburne Farms and Randi chose to play off the rich and vibrant colors of summer in creating a tablescape comprised of blues, pinks, and greens. All supplies other than the centerpieces were purchased at local home goods and crafting stores creating a very accessible and DIY option for brides looking to plan a shower on a budget.
The blooms used were fresh from the garden and easily attainable. Peonies, hydrangea, garden roses and sweetpea really came to life with the fresh mint accents. We were looking to provide a lush, rich feel with the colors at the same time creating a unique scent offered by the peony and mint combination that will always bring you back to that day.
A navy silk tablecloth created a rich foundation for the table. The fabric table runner was purchased as fabric by the yard and then ironed into thirds. Accessories included reusable blue floral plates, blue candles, bright blue on blue glass balls, pink ceramic containers filled to the brim with colorful Jordan almonds, and ribbon to decorate colorful straws. A lime green bucket was placed next to Adirondack chairs providing the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing (and colorful!) drink. Finally the simple white cake was decorated with striping and edible flowers to mirror the arrangements.

Enjoy this taste of summer on a winter’s day!
You can’t beat The Inn at Shelburne Farms for a dramatic background!

The Coach Barn provides the perfect setting for a Vermont wedding – I’m looking forward to photographing a wedding there in August!

I just loved the tablescape Randi created – even more so now surrounded by white snow – such a great pop of color!

Pink and white peony centerpieces in a bright green bucket

The pattern on the tablecloth really created a nice layered effect

The combination of pink and green flowers with the blue tablecloth background made everything stand out!

Plastic plates – perfect for a casual bridal shower!

Pink, green, and white centerpieces

I loved these blue blown glass balls that Randi found

I loved the vases Randi found for the Snapdragon centerpieces

Fun ribbons accented the colorful straws

Near the end of the shoot we stripped most of the accessories off the table to really focus on the beautiful flowers

At the end of the shoot we did a quick set up in the garden – the Inn looked especially dramatic from this angle I thought

A huge huge thank you to Randi, Gretel, and Shelburne Farms for coming together to create this fabulous inspirational shoot!
Thanks to Two Bright Lights where the post was submitted through!
