The day started with a blown out tire but it just got better from there….
I had a BLAST shooting with Steve DePino – he kept us all cool, calm, and laughing throughout the day 🙂
Hurricane Noel was roaring through New Haven but it didn’t dampen the spirits of those involved with this wedding. It became sort of a running joke and by the time we were ready to walk to the ceremony the rain and let up and the sun was peeking through. Good things to come to those who wait!
We started off at Jerry’s house where more and more guys just kept piling in for pizza and beer. We knew he had seven groomsmen but I counted eighteen guys at one point! Everyone was just kicked back watching football and hanging out – a great vibe to begin the day.
Then we went to Sarah’s parents house. By the time we got there hair and make-up were done, but luckily we were there when the stunning Sarah donned her Monique Lhuillier gown
When it was time to tie the sash no one could quite remember how to do it. Luckily the women at The Plumed Serpent were just a phone call away and they explained it in no time.
All the brides I’ve photographed this summer have been GORGEOUS and Sarah was no exception – she never stopped smiling and just lit up the room.
The ribbon on Sarah’s bouquet was her family’s plaid.
We had hoped to do portraits outside but due to the rain that was impossible. Quick thinking Sarah called up Hot Tomato’s in New Haven and they graciously allowed us to take photographs (and even served champagne to the bridal party!).
Hot Tomato’s is actually where Sarah and Jerry met, and she and her sister decided to re-create the scene by sitting in the lucky barstools!
During the bridal party formals Sarah’s Mom and Grandmother sang and danced to keep people laughing.
The flower girl was so cute and just had this adoring look on her face whenever she glanced at Sarah.
Steve working it
We stopped traffic walking across the street to Battell Chapel on the campus of Yale University. Even though it was chilly the rain had finally stopped!
We grabbed a few of Sarah and Jerry before heading into the church
The groom squiring his soon to be wife!
Dr. & Mrs!! (love the maid of honor’s face)
We did it!
By the time we left the church the sun was setting and there was the most amazing pink glow in the sky – glory light!!
A cute detail from the reception
And now for the very first time please put your hands together….
Jerry’s Father sang Unchained Melody for their first dance- he brought down the house!!
From the moment we met them Sarah’s entire family was welcoming and gracious – her Dad just seemed to be on Cloud Nine the whole day.
The band was rocking and the dance floor was packed for the whole night which is always so much better – I couldn’t help but tap my feet as I was shooting away 🙂
Thanks again Steve – I had a ball.
