March Re-Cap!

I thought it might be fun to start sharing the books I read and the movies I watch more “formally” so at the beginning of each month I plan to do a posting on just that subject! Who knows – maybe this will motivate me to read more 🙂

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ~ The Girl Who Played with Fire ~ The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest – This month I became completely obsessed with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series – I read all three in about ten days and couldn’t put them down! I also watched the Swedish versions of the movies and look forward to the American ones (although I don’t think they’ll be as good)
The Thirteenth Tale – Good story and enjoyable read
A Secret Kept – Interesting story and well written

I watch most of my movies on a laptop when I’m working so lighthearted titles are easy to pay attention to (or not!). Jeff and I have a Netflix subscription so I also take advantage of the Instant Queue sometimes for movies on the go 🙂 Since this is the first installment I went back a bit – these are the movies I’ve seen since the beginning of the year.

A few words about each:

Valentine’s Day – Lighthearted rom-com (romantic comedy) – you know what it’s going to be like but still cute
Temple Grandin – LOVED this movie and would highly recommend it. I’ve heard her interviewed many times on Fresh Air and just think she’s a fascinating woman. Claire Danes nailed the role
A Single Man – Very well acted by Colin Firth – heartbreaking story and beautifully shot (Tom Ford directed)
Love Happens – This was a bit cheesy for my taste 🙂
The Kids are Alright – Well acted and interesting story – I love both Annette Bening and Julianne Moore
Where the Wild Things Are – Cool costumes but I was a bit disappointed
Letters to Juliet – Pretty predictable and cheesy but ok for watching while editing 🙂
Invictus – Morgan Freeman is a brilliant actor
Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work – Documentary on a year in the life of Joan Rivers – didn’t know too much about her beforehand so it was interesting to gain a bit more insight into her life
Annie Hall – A classic – I enjoyed it
Fantastic Mr. Fox – George Clooney is brilliant as the voice of Mr. Fox – loved the look and feel of the film
The Devil Wears Prada – I’d seen this but couldn’t resist watching it again – Meryl Streep is wonderful
I am still loving Glee and can’t wait for new episodes. Jeff has been catching up on Season 2 so it’s been fun to watch some of the episodes again while quilting or sewing and singing along to the songs (Jeff loves that especially).
I have all the soundtracks downloaded and have been listening in my car a lot too – I’m a Gleek!!

For those of you who aren’t friends with me on Facebook or don’t follow me on Twitter below are some of the links I’ve shared in the last month through one of those channels. Enjoy!
