Wendy & Mike’s wedding – where to begin? When we were chatting about how the day would unfold their biggest concern was the fact that their ceremony would be at sunset. Would it be too bright in their guest’s faces? Could we make time to do photos beforehand?

A few days before the wedding we started getting word that there was a winter storm advisory for Sunday morning. Then it became Saturday night….and eventually it ended up being Saturday mid-day when the snow began to fall.
To their credit Mike & Wendy and all their guests just went with it and thankfully most people were staying nearby or at Elm Court so there wasn’t too much travel involved. A few guests didn’t make it (and one got there during the reception after driving for nine hours…..a good friend!!) but thankfully all the vendors did and we had ourselves a wedding 🙂
And what a storm it was – I would wager that there was about 18 inches that had fallen by the time I left the wedding that night but everyone chipped in and made it work and it was a GREAT day!
The snow had just begun to flurry as Wendy was getting ready at the Seven Salon & Spa

See- just a few little flurries and it was barely starting to stick as we arrived at Elm Court

I hung out with Mike as he got dressed and tied his tie

LOVE this one of Wendy – you can see snow falling in earnest 🙂

We did the first look on the staircase and I loved their reactions

We popped outside for a few natural light portraits – this one is my favorite 🙂

I then turned them around to have the snow be the backdrop but it was snowing so hard that you have to squint to see that it’s not just a white background!!

With photos done Wendy headed upstairs to wait for the ceremony to begin and I had time to grab a few details

Um…..just a bit of snow 🙂

Elm Court and I have a relationship of extremes – the last time I was there the rain held off until the ceremony was over but then it POURED

Love this bridal portrait of Wendy – the room they were staying in was so pretty!

And then it was time for the main event – guests squinting into the sun was not a problem 🙂

Such a beautiful place for a party!

Introduced as Mr. & Mrs!

It was two days before Halloween and Mike’s Dad is quite a joker 🙂

Limbo with pashmina provided some great photo ops!

As I said….it was almost Halloween 🙂

The night ended with smores in the main fireplace

Congratulations to both of you and thanks for rolling with the day – it turned out perfectly!
