I journeyed up to Northeast Harbor, Maine for the third time in five years to photograph Helen & Chad’s gorgeous backyard wedding. Helen is close friends with Amo from childhood and it was really nice to re-connect with Amo & her family (including sister Mallie whose wedding I also photographed back in 2013 when I was pregnant with Norah!) This whole crew is just so welcoming and friendly AND they know how to have a good time. The wedding itself went off without a hitch with beautiful weather and a beautiful setting. Enjoy the photos of the day!
Similar to Amo Helen didn’t have any bridesmaids but instead had a luncheon where friends stopped by as she was getting ready
Whimsical details with pops of color — the sash and embellishment on her jacket included the tulle from her Mother’s wedding dress – so special
NEH has a tradition of rope bracelets so Chad & Helen had everyone get one!
Sweet nieces of Helen’s
A breezy and chilly first look on the local dock
Love the movement of the wind lifting Helen’s dress
We headed back to the ceremony site to meet up with the families and do all the formal photos….the girls took their dress carrying duties seriously….perhaps a little too seriously!
Meet Bruce Helen & Chad’s beloved dog
What a site for a wedding!
A friendly backgammon game with her Dad while guests arrived
During the wedding Chad’s sister read the lyrics to the Bruce Springsteen song “if I should fall behind”
Pit stop for Bruce as they were going back up the aisle!!
All of Chad’s friends grew mustaches for the wedding – some were quite impressive!
How bananas is this groom’s cake – mini Bruce! Celebration Cakes knocked it out of the park!
Helen’s Dad kicked off the reception by welcoming everyone and taking a moment to have Helen & Chad pause to take it all in
Kids at weddings have crazy stamina – these guys lasted pretty late!
Chad toasts his bride
A kiss for Bruce!
Have you heard of the B52s song “Rock Lobster?” I hadn’t but apparently it is a THING in Northeast Harbor and it was the one song played at every summer dance during their childhood that got everyone onto the dance floor. This crew didn’t mess around and Daphne even found some lobster claws in the photo booth!
Former Orchard Cove couples (and sisters) Mallie & Amo – we missed you Gardner and Martha (their other sibling)
A sparkler getaway ended the night
Congratulations to both of you I loved being back in NEH to celebrate with you!
