New Year’s at the Lake Part 2

On New Year’s Eve before heading over to a friend’s house for hors d’oeuvres we all took part in a blind taste test of six wines. Giles was the organizer and all he would tell us was that they were all Cabernet Sauvignon. We were supposed to score them from 1-10 and make note of how much we’d be willing to pay for them.

Apparently my in-laws hoard glasses 🙂

Happy faces 🙂

The inside view as Giles pours me some wine 🙂

Giles unveiled the wines one by one. Before he did so we went around the table and revealed how we had scored the wines.

Everyone roared with laughter when it was revealed that Amir had scored “Two Buck Chuck” i.e. Trader Joe’s Charles Shaw $3.00 a bottle as his number one choice 🙂
We decided that the one saving grace was that at least he’s a cheap date 🙂

The six wines (really five…Giles included one twice to throw us off).

Least expensive – $3
Most expensive – $30

My friend Megan’s dog Max came over for dinner but wasn’t so sure what all the commotion was about!

Dinner is served! Beef lasagna, sausage lasagna, veggie lasagna!

The next day at 12 noon sharp the seventh annual Tunxis Black Bear Plunge got underway 🙂

Despite the temps being 50 DEGREES no one but Herzbergers and our guests joined the plunge….I wonder why??!!

The crew after “warming up” – happy campers and not nearly as chilled as they have been in previous years. Strider snuck into the picture but he was not a participant this year!!

Giles makes some interesting fashion choices sometimes (his Brother in Law gave the shirt to him as a joke….or so he tells us)

Cute kiddos came to watch 🙂

That afternoon is was time for another challenge – the Pepsi vs. Coke blind taste test challenge.

Jeff and Tyler (pictured) ruled victorious with 10 for 10.
I came out with 9 out of 10….I’m not sure whether to be proud or horrified 🙂

I hope everyone had a great New Year’s!

Happy Friday 🙂
