Jeff and I head off to Vermont this evening for a day of wedding planning fun and then some relaxation with our friends Giles and Cathy. Tomorrow we start our day at Ink Ink – a local stationary store in Shelburne. We’re hoping to be able to figure out what direction we want to take our invitations in and also pick out some stationary for thank you notes.
Then it’s a meeting with Vermont Tent to look at linens, table shapes, and no doubt many other things 🙂 Basically at this point we have a lot of ideas of what we like but we don’t have a clear theme, color, etc. We are hoping that a visit to their showroom will inspire us to make some decisions about those things and then future details (like the flowers) can flow from that.
Then in the afternoon we’re meeting our FABULOUS photographer Daria Bishop at the Shelburne Museum for our engagement session. If you’ve been following the blog you know that Daria was my cousin Heidi’s photographer so we are psyched she was free for our wedding too 🙂 Daria rocked their E-session and of course their wedding as well.
So when I was planning what to wear I figured we’d have a brisk autumn day filled with colorful leaves and blue skies, and bought a sweater. Turns out we’ll have everything but the brisk – it’s supposed to be 80 tomorrow! We’ll see how it goes 🙂
We’re finishing up the day with a dinner at my Mom’s house. Alex from Bevo Catering is coming for a wine tasting so hopefully we can decide which wines we’ll be serving at our wedding. Of course wine tasting is no fun all alone so Daria’s husband and kids are coming, as are our friends Giles and Cathy, and Heidi and her Husband Ave. It’s a big group but I’m hoping if the weather holds we can eat outside.
Whenever we entertain we try to get most of the work done beforehand so we can really enjoy our guests. Tomorrow Heidi & Ave are bringing cheese, Daria is bringing dessert, and Alex is bringing wine so that leaves us with the main course. We’re thinking grilled lemon and thyme chicken and some sort of veggie.
Wish us luck 🙂
