This past Monday I had the pleasure of photographing a homecoming at Westover Air Force Base for a family who found me through Operation Love Re-United. This was only my second time photographing a homecoming – the last time was for a navy family on the cold docks in Groton.
Hurry up and wait! Everyone gathered in this room where the USO provided refreshments and lots of activities for the kids to do. It was quiet but festive – especially once the bus pulled in. Erin had been especially patient – her Husband was due home on Saturday but because they were bussing up from North Carolina they were delayed until Monday night – the bus finally arrived around 10!
The boys kept busy coloring and drawing.
This little guy was great and was my opposite – I eat the wafers but not the inside 🙂
Lots of families had made signs 🙂
The marines bussed in and then unloaded their stuff in a back room – then they marched into the hall in formation before being dismissed to greet their families – what discipline when everyone was clamoring to re-unite!
Catching sight of Dad for the first time 🙂
Reunited after six months.
Heading home after a very long trip!
Chris – welcome home!
Erin – it was such a pleasure to meet you and your family – I look forward to seeing you again this summer!
