Peter & Emily were married on October 5, 2014 with a ceremony at the Pittsford Congregational Church and a reception at The Mountain Top Inn. This beautiful Mountain Top Inn Wedding was amazing with the fall colors of the Green Mountains as a backdrop.
Peter & Emily both attended the University of Vermont, but didn’t actually meet until a few years after they graduated at an alumni event in Boston. They bonded over their birthdays, which are one day apart, and their mutual ownership of old school flip phones!
On the wedding day I spent time in the morning with both the girls and Peter and his family as they were getting ready. I was able to capture photos with the guys and then zipped back to photograph Emily getting her dress on. Then we did photos with the girls before heading off to the church! After the ceremony we did the rest of the formal and family photos and then Peter, Emily, and I did some exploring to a covered bridge and beautiful woods. They were able to attend almost their entire cocktail party where people were enjoying lawn games (including a custom cornhole set). As the sun began to set guests were invited into the barn and the reception began!
Kerry Armstrong did Emily’s hair. I first worked with her earlier this year at James & Katie’s wedding and was so impressed by both her work and her professionalism – she is so easy to be around and keeps everything running on time while doing beautiful work! Emily’s makeup was done by Mirror Mirror.
Emily gifted her bridesmaids with these fun robes Peter’s sister designed the invitation suite Peter’s niece was SO excited about being a flower girl and did such a great job Getting Peter’s nephew interested in having his photo taken (and staying clean) was a bit of a challenge – there were salamanders to find! It was impeccable Vermont autumn weather. Emily had been so concerned about it raining or being freezing on the wedding day but it was neither – the foliage was spectacular, the skies were blue and it was unseasonably warm for early October – perfect! I love working with A Schoolhouse Garden for the flowers. The owner, Nancy, always creates such beautiful bouquets and tablescapes.
Emily’s cathedral length veil was a showstopper! Emily was such a classic bride and I just love this shot of her as she got away from the church! Peter’s Dad let them borrow his fabulous vintage truck. We used it for couple’s photos of Peter & Emily but then rounded up the bridal party at the end of cocktail hour and used the beautiful trees as a background for a full group shot. The car was appropriately decorated!
The beautiful tablescapes. And the cupcakes from Snowflake Cupcakes taste as good as they look I can assure you!
As the bridal party was lining up to go into the reception the hills to the east were lit up by the setting sun Peter & Emily had secretly been taking dance lessons – it showed! The cake was created by Trillium Fine Desserts. The band, the DC Project, kept everyone dancing all night!
Peter & Emily – it was such a pleasure seeing you both again and getting to know your wonderful families – I’ll hope that eventually you make your way back up to Vermont!!
