I picked up “The Alchemist” at a recent book fair – I feel like it’s one of those books I’ve heard a lot about but I can’t pinpoint where or from who! It’s a very short book and a simple story with only a few characters but it is packed with life lessons and advice. With every page came a new allegory and it almost felt like I was reading business and life advice packed into a lovely little story.
The synopsis reads: “The Alchemist is the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Tangiers and across the Egyptian desert to a fateful encounter with the alchemist. The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories have done, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path, and, above all, following our dreams.”
Pick it up – you’ll enjoy it!
