Jeff and I had an awesome weekend in Vermont wedding planning on Friday and then just hanging out with friends. Although it isn’t peak foliage yet Friday and Sunday were amazing beautiful days with clear blue skies and warm temperatures.
We started Friday at a stationary store right in Shelburne where we bounced ideas around for our invitation. My Brother Jon is a fabulous artist who has agreed to do a watercolor for the front of our invitation. Karla showed us a few different ways we could incorporate it and we think we have a pretty clear idea of what it will look like. Karla was great to work with and so helpful in showing us options in many different styles and price ranges.
Next we went up to Burlington to meet with Vermont Tent Company about our rentals. We made some progress but it seems like we really need to finalize our menu before we can know for sure what equipment will be needed, and of course it’s also important to know how many guests are coming – something we won’t be sure of for a long time!
Liane at Let’s Pretend graciously and generously agreed to meet with us at the last minute so we could look at their linen options. We have been to so many yummy events catered by Let’s Pretend and can’t recommend them enough – they are awesome! We tentatively chose two shades of blue that will alternate between tables so it felt good to be able to picture a little more what the inside of the giant tent will look like 🙂
Thankfully we had an extra hour to enjoy the beautiful day so after eating bagels out on the lawn we walked down to the beach and were able to walk along the shore due to the low water level. Strider enjoyed a few swims and fetching sticks and we were able to process some of the things we had seen that morning 🙂
Showering and primping for our engagement session with Daria was next and then off to the Shelburne Museum where we met her. Our session was so fun and the museum was the perfect place to do it as there are so many different nooks and crannies to discover and explore. Daria and I were both in photographer’s heaven as we kept seeing spots and changing direction. We can’t WAIT to see the results 🙂
We had saved the best for last – a wine tasting dinner with Alex from Bevo Catering. If you are getting married in Vermont and need a “wine guy” I can’t recommend Alex highly enough. He was generous enough to spend his Friday night sharing about fifteen wines with us and educating us on the background and characteristics of each. My Cousin Heidi and her Husband Ave joined us and Ave was in heaven with a huge plate of cheese on the table and wines being poured freely (who am I kidding? We all were!!). Daria’s husband Andy and her two kids also joined us (the kids for dinner….not the tasting!)
We had big plans to set up tables outside because it was so nice but ended up at the kitchen table 🙂 Our friends Giles & Cathy were also there but got stuck in traffic so had to do some catching up on the tasting 🙂
Heidi and Daria enjoying the wines!
Daria and Andy’s adorable son who kept us in line pointing out when we used the word Like incorrectly….it happened a lot.
He had a little cold but was such a trooper. Naturally ice cream makes everything better (and Daria’s yummy Apple Crisp doesn’t hurt either!)
Daria’s pooch Yeti came over to romp with Strider. By the end of the night they were both passed out on the kitchen floor 🙂
Thank you so much to everyone for such a fabulous day – we are so blessed to have all of you in our lives!
More photos to come later from the rest of our weekend….
