Michaela & Andy were married with a ceremony and reception at the Basin Harbor Club on Lake Champlain on June 28, 2014.
I began the day with Michaela, Andy and their families getting ready all together, which I loved! It was fun to hang out with everyone and to have it be very laid back and mellow. Andy’s son Oliver wandered in after his nap to join the crowd.
I love this moment when Andy & Michaela attempted to figure out how to tie a bow tie while watching a You Tube video. The whole relaxed morning was a great way to start this happy day.
Hilary from Shear Cuts created Michaela’s beautiful up do, and even dried Oliver’s hair as a special treat.
Michaela’s brother Sean was the Man of Honor and he was there writing his speech in the midst of this organized chaos. He had to contenf with people ribbing him because he kept writing and writing….too much to say too little time! You could tell how honored he was to be standing up for the couple.
From there we did photos of Michaela & Andy and then the families. It was so great to have all the photos done with beforehand, so everyone could really relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
In Full Bloom Florist did a beautiful job with all of the flowers.
The ceremony was performed by two close family friends (A husband and wife) so it felt really personal to them. There were both light and emotional moments throughout so it felt like a nice balance.
I thought it was lovely how they included Oliver in a family hug at the end of the ceremony.
I’ve never seen a groom bustle a dress but Andy did it like a pro!
This chef was rocking out with his tongs to the music all through cocktail hour – put a smile on my face every time I walked by him
This dapper guest snoozed through most of cocktail hour!
Michaela’s family picked fresh strawberries to serve as the escort cards – what a seasonal treat!
Right before heading into dinner we gathered everyone for a group photo
They were all such great dancers! And the Tammy Fletcher Band kept everyone up and moving all night!
It just felt like a very genuine love filled day. I had only met Michaela & Andy a few days before since they live on the west coast but they immediately welcomed me and it just felt very natural. Their love is so clear and it is apparent how connected and in love they both are. It is also so sweet to watch their interactions with Oliver who so clearly adores both of them.
Andy & Michaela – I wish you lived closer! You both bring such warmth and love and presence to the room – I wish you all the best!
