Jake & Anna – September 12th
Ceremony & Reception :: Camp Saginaw
Settle in for a loooong post this was a wonderful wedding close to my heart! I first met Anna’s older sister Suzanna 19 (!!) years ago on my first day of boarding school as a freshman. She was a senior and was the proctor living on my hall. That year she was like a big sister to me and on graduation day I didn’t even attempt to keep it together – my 13 year old self was devastated and felt like the world was ending. Anna was a year older than me and her sister Julia was a year younger so I was surrounded by their family! It is such a wonderful family and from the moment I arrived at Camp Jakanna I was welcomed with open arms.
All the ladies were crowded into Anna’s cabin and as I arrived Anna was handing out presents to each person with a very heartfelt note that made each and every person cry.
Makeup commenced on the porch done expertly by both Julia & Suzanna – this was truly a team effort and a family affair!
As a gift to Anna a beautiful box was presented filled with letters from all the bridesmaids – such a simple and meaningful present.
Anna presented to her Mom a necklace made with Anna’s birthstone – it also brought tears (to me and everyone else!)
We were running a bit behind schedule so Anna’s friend did her hair while Suzanna continued with her makeup!
Time for the dress!
Meanwhile the boys were getting ready in their own cabin
And then it was time for the first look! The rain had been threatening all day and about three minutes after the first look the mist opened up. I was glad we were able to get some photos outside though!
Into the barn we went but truthfully I love these photos – the barn was beautifully decorated with pennant flags and about 1000 pictures of Jake & Anna and all their families and friends. It had a lot of personality!
We attempted to get a photo with all the nieces and nephews – not everyone was on board!
By that time the skies had really opened up and it was POURING.
The ceremony began and Jake and Anna walked out together
Their close friends Ellie & Laurie officiated the ceremony and did an awesome job – it was so personal and heartfelt.
After the ceremony we ducked under an umbrella and headed up to the dining hall for dinner
But of course we had to stop on the way for a few more photos
Jubilation and then a quiet moment before entering dinner
Anna’s Brother TJ gave a HYSTERICAL toast about how when Anna was little she used to tell the same jokes over and over and over….he brought out one of his favorites and it had everyone in stitches.
Amazingly it stopped raining for a little while and we were able to sneak outside again for some more photos
For dessert they borrowed the Apple Crisp recipe from our boarding school – YUM.
Back to the barn we went for the reception – I loved all the personal details
The pennant flags were made from fabric they discovered in Anna’s Grandmother’s attic – pretty darn special!
Let the party begin!
The crew from Deerfield!
And the most awesome photo booth ever
Congratulations and much LOVE to you both and your whole family – I so so so loved being a part of your day!!!
