I just felt like running…..

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to exercise twice a week (hopefully more but I figured I’d start with a realistic goal and then be excited if I surpass it!). My friend Carla got her rear in gear in early December and has been an exercising fool since then. We are so proud of how hard she’s working and in the meantime she’s getting all of us motivated as well. All through December I kept telling her that come January I’d be on the team and this week I started!

Last summer and fall Jeff and I ran pretty regularly but he is FAST and although he’s very kind and tries to wait for me he’s just a little too speedy. Running with Carla barely seems like exercise because we have so much fun chatting and joking around. On Tuesday we went about 3 1/2 miles (call me out if I’m getting this wrong Ms. Ten Eyck) and today we went FIVE miles. I don’t think in my life I’ve ever run that far. Perhaps it’s not far for some of you but it’s pretty cool and makes me feel great!

On Monday I spent the day on a mini retreat at the lakehouse all by myself. It was so rejuvenating to just have the space and the time to think, plan, be inspired, etc. In the morning I took about two hours and made a 101 in 1001 list. I’m not sure how many of you have heard of this but it’s basically 101 things you hope to accomplish/do in the next 1001 days. 1001 days from Monday is October 5, 2010 – seems like a long way away but it just helps to keep things in perspective. One of the things on my list is to run a 5K but now I think maybe I’ll soon be able to handle a 10K!! Carla is training for a half marathon so maybe she will convince me to go for that….

Another item on the list is to read 2 personal books and 1 business book a month. Thus every night this week I’ve climbed into bed with the pooch and read for about an hour. It’s a really nice way to finish the day and clear my mind and of course snoogling with the pooch is never bad 🙂

We’re heading to VT this afternoon for our wedding appointments so hopefully we’ll get a lot accomplished. I’ll give a full report on Monday!

That is SUCH a cute shot!!

I wish I could run! I have shin splints:( I think people who can run and DO run are awesome and I am way jealous! I need to do some sort of exercise soon… I’ve been sittin on my butt the past 4 months!!

I am so glad you have joined us running! Today felt like a breeze (in renee-world we all know that means we didn’t really push ourselves and should have even gone farther or run faster!) Next run with you is gonna be a doozy- I thought I was being nice by not forcing you to do the 6 mile route, silly me! 10K, all the way, baby!!
