PUG Retreat Re-Cap

August 9, 2007

I’ve spent the past two days hanging out with some of my favorite photographers at a retreat – learning, laughing, and just generally being goofy. We did get a lot accomplished, but of course we also had a ton of fun. The weather was perfect so we spent most of our breaks down by the water swimming and trying not to be near when the dogs shook πŸ™‚

I always find it so inspiring to attend workshops because I learn so much and become re-energized. The down side is I now have a VERY long to-do list πŸ™‚ But for this phenomenal group of people it’s all about helping each other be the best they can be. I know it sounds cheesy but time and time again I heard encouragement, praise, constructive criticism, and a whole lot of love πŸ™‚

Everyone did a really great job with their sessions. For a full line-up head over to Justin & Mary’s Blog. The highlights slideshow includes a session on directing engagement sessions led by Carla Ten Eyck. The models for that session were the lovely Paul & Krystal from Studio Foto. Next Leslie Dumke put together a mariachi band to make us think about not overthinking our images (counterintuitive I know!). Today Paul gave a talk on backing up, technology, and other things that are so important to think about but make our eyes glaze over πŸ™‚

Sadly some people had to leave a bit early but the wrap up dinner was definitely a highlight. Nikki, Carla, Justin & Mary, and Paul & Krystal stuck around to clean up the house and clean out the fridge….THANK YOU. And of course it wouldn’t be a slideshow without our doggie friends Strider and Cooper keeping things real πŸ™‚

I didn’t always have my camera (shocking I know), but here are a few highlights. (Sadly it doesn’t include Mary Bess doing karaoke to “The Devil went down to Georgia”)

You guys are awesome – let’s do it again!

Amanda – Thank you so much for opening the house up to us. It was a perfect place for a retreat! Love these photos, you really captured it!

Now, let’s get on that massive to-do list!
