Strider Update

January 29, 2009

Thanks for all your concern and tips about Strider. He is doing better although his ears aren’t fully better yet.

When he came home on Friday night he was still quite out of it so we parked him on the couch under our big fluffy comforter πŸ™‚

He was tired but psyched when Jeff came home (note tail wag!)

And quickly fell back asleep

On Saturday we took a good walk outside and that perked him up enough to watch the UCONN game that night. Usually we sit on the couch with him but Giles & Cathy were in town for the weekend so he went back and forth between Jeff’s lap and theirs (perhaps he doesn’t realize he’s 80 pounds!)

I’m so cute!

He still doesn’t realize the treat cupboard is now dead to him πŸ™ We’ve been giving him bits of kibble during the day as treats but somehow I don’t think it’s the same! For the next few weeks he’ll only have his new non-allergenic kind of kibble as we try to get his ears totally clean…then we will slowly start re-introducing things (but probably not peanut butter)

Have a great day!

I love that little tail wag! So cute! Hope he’s feelin’ better! πŸ™‚

Oh no. I am so bummed that Strider is having allergies and it’s affecting his ears. Max is on his special diet and totally misses all his fave treats. But we still give him peanut butter. I hope Strider will be able to get some pb again soon.

awwwww!! poor Strider!

Oh, Amanda. I am catching up on lots of blog posts tonight and shrieked “What’s wrong with Strider” when I first spotted the pic of him on your couch in the feed. I’m glad it’s nothing crazy serious, but am going to have my friend Kara email you (she’s going through something similar w/ her black lab). My Dakota hasn’t had trouble w/ yeast in her ears (knock on wood) because I sprinkle acidophilus powder (for pets and babies at Whole Foods) every morning in her breakfast. Maybe worth giving it a try? Good luck! Hugs to the sick little big guy!

Poor little (big) doggie…..the pix of him looking at the treat cupboard breaks my heart. Hope the yummy re-introductions are soon. XOXO to Strider and both of you.

Cole and Maddox say GET BETTER! That is no life for a dog! πŸ™‚ Lots of Licks!
