Ten Eyck Tuesday Lighting Workshop

April 28, 2010

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending another Ten Eyck Tuesday workshop – this time on lighting and specifically off camera lighting and flash! Most of the time I prefer natural lighting in my photography because it looks more….well….natural! Occasionally however it’s just not possible you if that’s the case you better know how to rock your flash! The more I practice the more comfortable I feel and I’m looking forward to really incorporating it more fully into my photography this year – especially at wedding receptions!

Our models were Tony of Datura – A Floral Garden and his lovely wife. They had a great funky style and were very patient models as we waited out changing light conditions.
We started in the middle of the afternoon in Carla’s backyard in harsh harsh sunlight…..usually in this situation I’d find some beautiful open shade but I really wanted to push myself to not go to my safety zone! I was happy with how these two turned out.

Sometimes at workshops I get more involved with shooting what’s happening than shooting the models….this was the case with Carla and her cutie patootie daughter Georgie πŸ™‚

Carla had been away for the few days before the workshop so Georgie couldn’t get enough snuggle time with her πŸ™‚
