The Crane Project

October 14, 2008

When I was up in Vermont I also stopped by the Vermont Children’s Hospital to photograph a crane sculpture that was donated by the Seventh Grade class at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School.

You can read about it HERE.

Wendy’s son Jonas was very involved with the project and she asked me to visit the sculpture as they are thinking about selling greeting cards to raise additional funds.

Isn’t it gorgeous? The class folded 1000 paper cranes and sold them to raise money for a girl in their school who is battling Leukemia. The project has taken off and they have made many more. The class worked with a local artist who designed the case and then the classmates got together to string them in this beautiful geometric pattern.

The colors are just stunning and it is so neat to be involved….at least peripherally….with such an awesome project!

This is such an amazing idea! I would love to do something like this for a charity locally.

omigosh! these are insane! SO beautiful! Remind me next weekend to tell you about the books we saw this weekend at the Hotchkiss school.

I was blown away by the efforts of these kids!! It was so heartwarming and I wished you could’ve been at the presentation. So I’m happy that you were able to snap up some pretty photos. And aren’t they amazing?!!
