Try the crop!

One thing that’s always good to think about when you’re looking at your photos is how you might crop the picture to make the image more powerful or interesting.

Below is an example of a photo that I thought was ok as shot. When I went back to edit I was playing around with the crop – first tightening it on the vertical and then changing the orientation.

Now your whole focus is on the relationship between Father and Son – much more powerful than the fuller body shot.

If you don’t have a cropping tool on your computer use your hands or a piece of paper to experiment and see what you come up with. Good luck!


oh nice! you’re so right! i love the focus on the little boy’s face in the second one…he looks like he’s up to something! 🙂
